At in-cosmetics Global from 16-18 April 2024 in Paris, the world’s leading supplier of mineral-based specialty solutions for the industry showcased its range of solutions derived from natural calcium carbonate, diatomaceous earth, kaolin, mica, perlite and talc.
With its mineral ingredients, Imerys intends to ride the trend for cosmetics formulated from natural resources.
A new mattifying agent for lipsticks
Among the new products presented at in-cosmetics, Imerys highlighted the use of ImerCare 400D, previously launched as an absorption agent, as a mattifying agent for lipsticks and a natural alternative to synthetic silica.
“ImerCare 400D demonstrates superior absorption providing a natural mattifying effect in lipsticks as well as good sensorial properties and thermal stability,” said the company in a statement.
Based on microporous diatomaceous earth, ImerCareR 400D is Cosmos approved. For this innovation, Imerys’ ImerCare team received the Make-Up Bar Silver Award from the organizers of the in-cosmetics Global tradeshow.
A volcanic rock for industrial hand scrubs
Produced from natural volcanic rock, and offering a secure supply chain and microbiology compliance, ImerCare SandyScrub is the latest addition to Imerys’ ImerCare range, dedicated to the cosmetics and toiletries industry. The new ingredient provides gentle exfoliation in hand soaps used in industrial environments such as garages and workshops.
In addition, Imerys showcased its range of top-performing ingredients (‘Pioneer-rated’) in terms of sustainability, transparency and gentleness on the skin:
– ImerCare Matte, a Cosmos-approved white kaolin solution for achieving a nude matte effect in gels and creams, liquid foundations and pressed powders. It can be used as a 100% natural alternative to synthetic mattifying agents such as nylon and polyethylene powders and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).
– ImerCare 6M, an engineered mica multifunctional solution for providing cohesiveness as well as transparency and luminosity in pressed powders. ImerCare 6M is ethically sourced from Imerys’ Ploemeur site in Brittany, France. It is Cosmos approved.
– ImerCare Blur, a patented Cosmos-approved calcium carbonate-based product, specifically engineered to confer both a mattifying and soft focus effect in powders and anhydrous products. It can be used as a natural alternative to synthetic ingredients such as synthetic silica, nylon and PMMA.
– ImerCare P-Scrub, an engineered perlite, derived from natural volcanic rock, designed as an environmentally friendly alternative to polymer microbeads used in face and body scrubs.
